It's a challenge for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The highest peaks have long been mastered.

This is the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, along with six more T20 titles, and earlier maintained nearly four years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, those for the peak baggers, are the only things left for a team that has won it all.

The fact it required until Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the largest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, frankly, a tribute to the bowlers that have worn canary yellow over five decades.

It's difficult for their hitters to maintain a record if never given the possibility.

Ultimately, the outcome of Australia allowing 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy being given an opportunity to produce her newest gem.

Originally famous as the young family member of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her country couldn't capture either of the T20 or ODI World Cups held the previous year and has experienced everything through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 championship victory happened three months after her bow and seven world titles have come from 10 tries across formats.

The gritty keeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India briefly halted the run of success.

That loss "drove us to rethink our standards," Healy stated recently.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the title decider and was awarded tournament MVP. She made sure her country would not fail again.

The question of whether this latest epic knock surpassed that earlier display remains open for discussion.

Many contend the argument supporting final game tension. Some might respond with the difficulty that comes when facing a record target and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's clear is this century was far harder to predict.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 came as she was the highest scorer, but this innings came after six matches in India since the start of last month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"For those following me in training, it was a disappointing period because it seemed my form was missing at all," commented Healy.

"Yet the moment you take the field, your competitive nature kick in and you just lock into the match."

Healy's fighting spirit has continuously been her key asset - and an irreplaceable characteristic in replacing famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, dismissed by the emerging pace bowler in each encounter, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's inspiration.

One run resulted off the bowler's initial ball and after that the right-hander was on her way.

"A chance to go out there and engage in competition with her and simply enjoy myself that way, sort of got me going," said Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 pitches - her fastest at the World Cup - and her century in 84 balls as she flogged anything short, hitting 21 fours and three sixes.

Once she was out Australia needed 66 more at a run-a-ball - an unconquered height now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Pursuing 330 is unfamiliar ground so I am glad we have the confidence to do that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to repeat it but, if we do, we believe we can achieve it."

That comment will be the last competing nations at this championship should hear.

During the last week a belief they will succeed regardless of circumstances has only strengthened - this triumph following victory over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite sitting at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a match against longtime competitors England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final place may likely be confirmed.

It was at that stage they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a game Healy was absent due to ruptured tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the inaugural occasion at a significant event.

Such is her determination, she later said she regretted not playing with the discomfort.

But while she subsequently acknowledged those injuries have postponed consideration of ending her career, this championship is expected to be her last as captain in ODI cricket and she is hasn't yet secured an international tournament as captain.

Success in India would take her to the summit of her last major obstacle.
