One extended voyage circling the Land Down Under is being halted days after the tragic passing of an elderly lady who was stranded by the vessel on a remote coastal location.

The elderly woman had been walking on the tropical location with other travelers from the vessel, but separated from the party for a rest. The ship sailed away leaving her and went back several hours later after the crew became aware the lady was missing.

An extensive search operation found her remains the subsequent day.

Investigative bodies are looking into the incident, alongside police and the medical examiner.

Chief Executive of the shipping company announced that travelers and staff on the Coral Adventurer were notified that the rest of the cruise had been called off due to the "sad loss and earlier technical problems".

In a statement, he further stated that passengers would be given a total repayment, and said the company was working "to coordinate the return journeys of the travelers via private aircraft".

Officials also released an updated statement, and said they had "provided a order to the Master" banning any additional guests from boarding the ship.

The official said that they would attend the vessel in Cairns upon its arrival.

Chronology of Incidents

The ship originally sailed from the coastal city on October 24th, and was just two days into the expedition at the time of the 80-year-old's demise. The remote island was the first stop on the itinerary.

Guests on board - who usually pay tens of thousands of money to take part in the cruise - were taken there for a shore visit with the possibility of hiking or snorkelling.

Family Statement

The offspring of the victim said that her loved ones was "surprised and grieved that the liner left Lizard Island after an scheduled tour without my parent".

Through her comments, she described her mum as an "vigorous 80-year-old" who was a participant of a hiking organization.

"From the little facts we have been provided, it appears that there was a breakdown of care and common sense," she mentioned.

She further stated that she wished the investigation would be able to pinpoint what "the company should have done that might have saved Her life".

"We understand from the authorities that it was a exceptionally warm period, and she fell ill on the mountain ascent," she revealed.

"She was asked her to return, unescorted. Then the vessel left, reportedly without doing a headcount.

"At some stage in that chain of events, or soon after, mum succumbed, alone."

Organization Reaction

Through an announcement, the CEO verified that the company was "collaborating extensively with officials to support their inquiry".

He mentioned that the company was "very regretful that this has transpired" and had offered its complete assistance to the family.

Cruise Industry Standards

The vessel caters for up to 120 guests with 46 crew, according to company data. It was specifically designed to reach isolated areas of Australia's coast and is outfitted with "small boats" - minor craft used to transport travelers on shore trips.

Occurrences of this nature are infrequent, and cruise ships have protocols to track which passengers are embarking or getting off, according to travel authorities.

Cruise lines regard these procedures with great importance and have "sophisticated systems in place to avoid such occurrences from taking place," the specialist added.
